PostSubject: Admin Rotations?   Mon May 16, 2011 10:51 pm

So, something I wanted to eventually implement is having the admin position a little more temporary than it is in most other clans.

What I propose is to have a vote every month. The reason why I want to do this is so if someone starts to become less active, then the clan can vote in a different more suited for the job; this way what happened with Dark and Vince doesn't happen again. Of course if the two current admins are still active and win the votes again, then there will be no change.

Thoughts?

Well, I think if the admins are still very active and well-liked, doing their job and nobody has an issue with them, then we shouldn't have a poll. I think we should only change out an admin if the need arises, such as not carrying out admin duties or being inactive.

I think this is a great idea. The Sovereign Assembly has a similar command structure, if you make it into a admin position its because the members voted for you to take it. They also have a voting on a monthly basis to decide who should be admin for this month.

That way there more power to the people! Very Happy

You democrats..... lol it's a very good idea so we can constantly have active admins to accept people into the clan.

Sounds good. If someone is doing a good job, they shouldn't have anything to be worried about.

*Thumbs Up*

I think that an admin spot should only come up for election if there are srs complaints about the person, since it would just destabilize the system.

Possibly once the clan grows and we have a much larger group of people, we could add in two "senators", if you will, that would serve as temporary administration and these would be elected every month or so.

That way we still have a solid admin system with a way to rotate new blood in every so often.

So in theory, I'd be:

Leader: KT-Stix (Duh)
Admins: Shottymaster, -Sked-
Pseudo-Admins: ________, ________

Leader gets complete control, can do anything he wishes to do.

Admins get ability to recruit and kick (with good reason).

PA's only can recruit and kick when granted permission via an admin or Leader?

nope.avi

This is how I wanted to do it:

Leader: Me, but I don't get really get any extra whatever than any other admin. The only difference is I'm permanently an admin
Admins: Mod the forums, accept/kick in-game if needed to be
Members: (Includes admins) all vote on nearly all decisions, and majority vote wins

The psuedo admins isn't really what I meant. What I propose we do is at the end of next month we have another poll for admins. If Shotty and Fred both win again, then they stay admins and nothing changes. If Fred gets voted admin again and instead someone else wins admin over shotty (cause maybe he became inactive for the past month), then I will change shotty to a regular member and give the newly voted member admin

Even though rotating out the two admins is a good idea, it adds a sort of instability to the system, which is why I suggest Echo, two admins, and two elected positions.

I don't think it would, because most all decisions go through everyone and not just the few admins

Well then since it's a complete democracy and not a representative democracy why do they need to rotate out? :/

I think its better this way because it lets people know they have a equal shot at becoming a admin.

Well admins don't really have much responsibility other than accepting applications, and the forum moderation is more of a novelty for the most part since we're all mature here.

They will be involved in important decisions, it's just that not all of them are exclusive. I want admins to carry a little more weight in the voting process, keep things in line when myself or the other admin(s) aren't around, help organize events, as well as be representatives of the clan when we do any community stuff. They'll also be the ones I'll go to and discuss matters with if a decision needs to be made quickly, since getting everyone's opinion on a matter will sometimes take too long and more damage will be done waiting on that process.

Well what I get from that is that you want the admins to be people that are mature, active, and 100% reliable in case you need them if a crisis pops up. In that case, you should handpick those whom you believe to be best suited for the responsibility, not let the members pick. Of course, the members should be able to influence the decision, but above all an admin should be chosen for friendliness and reliability. It has been proven throughout history that democracies are fairly weak forms of government, while benevolent dictatorships are by far the strongest. Now I know I shouldn't compare a clan to a dictatorship because it sounds bad, but all it means is that the leader, Echo, has his couple of right hand men, the admins, and they will deal with anything that arises. And once it comes time to shift power into the hands of another individual, and while the general population are usually able to influence it, the ultimate decision is up to the king.

I respect your opinion and I see why you want it to be that way (especially after TP's CS structure) but this is just a little bit of the reasoning behind my thinking and opinion.

I completely agree with Matt. As long as you choose the proper people to uphold order and peace around, nothing bad should happen.
So, therefore, if nothing bad ever comes up, why risk it by switching admins in?
If someone is working hard, doing a good job, and maintaining the clan's wellbeing, they should be able to keep that position as long as they want.

So I'm going sit on Shotty's side in this case.
