| If there was a draft and you had to go to the front lines in Afghanistan, would you do it? Your other choices are to flee the country or go to jail. What would you do and why? Females: You're male in this situation. Minors: you're over 18 in this case. | |

| I'd go to Afghanistan even if it meant fighting a war I never wanted to fight. | |

| To be honest, I would take jail or flee the country. I'm not a coward, and I have unmeasurable respect for those that serve, but I think that its something you shouldn't be forced into. I don't believe in the war thats going on over there atm, I consider it a modern day crusade. I believe and support my soldiers, but I am not one.
However, if there were a situation to arise on american soil, I would absolutely defend my home.
I'm curious to see what others think about this.

I'm curious to see what others think about this. My thoughts exactly on this topic.

I'm curious to see what others think about this. Especially because we're still fighting in the Middle East because the government is too scared to let them rebuild and deal with it themselves, and instead decide to micromanage the countries over there.

It feels like we have newbies trying to play Starcraft over there. XD Anywho, there's no point fighting a war where there is few, if any potential benefits.

| There are actually a lot of potential benefits to this war in the middle east, however they're not worth the cost, and they're bordering on imperialistic reasons, if you ask me. Oil is a massive reason, its a good place to have military bases because of the geography, Isreal is one of our allies, and they are NOT wanted in the middle east, having a functioning military base near them would be immensely helpful if a situation arises that we need to help them out.
@Shotty, they're not afraid to let them rebuild on their own, they want it rebuilt a certain way so that they can have a string to pull in the end. Another reason they want to be involved is the chance of a radical group taking control of an underdeveloped, unprotected government, it has happened, and its a volatile area, so its likely to happen again if it isn't guarded against.

| Jewish/Muslim relations have always been terrible. I'm not the one to say as to why, but they have been for a long time lol.
The problem is that Isreal was carved out after WWII (IIRC), and the land it rests on was taken from another country. People don't like their land being taken, especially land with as much religious importance as Isreal. (Considered the holy land, birthplace of jesus, etc)
Think of it this way, you have an acre of land, and a war breaks out, you lose 3/4 of your acre to people who hadn't been there before, you'd be a little pissed too, don't you think? Its mostly about the loss of land, I think, but I'm sure theres other things there.
