Yeah, I thought it looked a bit too two-dimensional. How can I go about adding depth?

Yeah, I thought it looked a bit too two-dimensional. How can I go about adding depth? maybe darken the background near the render? i like how the j extends out of the image

| Think of it like this Background | Rear | Render | Front | Foreground For sigs, it doesn't look very good if you use the "Front" and the "Foreground" (this isn't actually what it is, just how I think of it). Using both the front and the foreground will make the render look too distant in a sig since the dimensions are small, but for things like wallpapers you would. (Although if your just adding text to the foreground it should be fine). Anyways, you're going to want the background, rear, render, and the front. Right now all the purple is your background (hence why you think it's a little 2D). On top of the background you have your render. Then on top of your render you have the text (which is always in the foreground). So, you'd need to add something behind and in front of the render that looks good, but doesn't blend in with the background. The most common way to do this is C4D's. http://www.animefans.tv/f100/%5Bsemi-advanced%5D-dead-space-2-signature-tutorial-2557/That's a link to a decent Photoshop tutorial teaching a little on depth. It shows how he did it with C4D's. Edit: @Rapter Darkening the image around the render wouldn't work alone because of the defined light source in the render | |

| Or you can make the side of the background where she is facing away kind of blurry, so it is more focused on her and where she is close to. | |

| Used some C4Ds, but the thing with 3D C4Ds is that they look weird with 2D anime renders. | |

| It's already looking like it has more depth, but the C4D's aren't blended well. You don't have to use just C4D's either, just something in front of the render (other than just text) will give the same feel. Try messing around with a scatterbrush eraser if you want to try to get that C4D to work | |

| Try adding a bit #7c0b36 or around there accent to it, then loosen up the blur a tad on the left-most part of the C4D (around where her hair falls) | |

| I didn't mean change the entire hue of the background, add in a little bit of paint with that color and keep the hue the same. Maybe try to find something like a sakura tree and vector some leaves out. The end style would look a little like this, but sharper to match the sig http://harunase.deviantart.com/#/d3hbnro | |
